Who is Atlas Sailing?

Hi. I'm Justin, the owner of Atlas Sailing. People who know me well know that I love to sail! It's been a lifelong passion, starting out with sailing dinghies on the Georges River behind my childhood home. I even contemplated becoming a naval architect when I went to uni. However, on advice from my father, I pursued a more traditional corporate career, becoming a property developer. One of my career highlights was working for 12 years as the head of Westfield in New Zealand. What I loved most though about the corporate world was the privilege of coaching and mentoring team members and making a positive contribution to their professional development.

And I never lost my passion for sailing! So, during the pandemic, I decided to leave the corporate world behind and to combine my love of mentoring others with my love of sailing. I gained qualifications as an instructor with Australian Sailing and with the Royal Yachting Association and I completed 100s of hours (and I do mean many hundreds!) as a sailing instructor. And then I decided to set up my own sailing school. So, Atlas Sailing was born...about 4 years after it's namesake. Atlas, my family's beautiful kelpie-cross.

Something that's important to all of us at Atlas Sailing is that students receive expert sailing instruction in a supportive, friendly enviroment. We want you to achieve your sailing goals as well as have fun along the way.

We cater to both recreational sailors and racing-orientated sailors and offers a comprehensive range of sailing lessons at all levels of experience. So, whether you're a beginner sailor or you're a more accomplished sailor seeking further qualifications, we have a course suited to you.
